A GROUP of ramblers have teamed up with council workers and contractors to improve footpaths in the Brithdir area.
Volunteers from the Meirionnydd Ramblers Group, together with members of the Gwynedd Council Rights of Way Unit and contractors Geraint Micah and Simon Stratton, spent the day working together on footpaths in near Brithdir.
The day was part of the second phase of a project to improve footpaths through an attractive area of woodland and meadows near Dolserau Hall.
The day’s work included replacing an old stile with a self-closing gate, erecting marker posts, clearing vegetation and improving drainage in some waterlogged sections of the path. It was hard but satisfying work, made even more enjoyable by some wonderful, sunny spring weather and lovely views of snow-capped mountains.
Afterwards, Liz Haynes from the Rights of Way Unit summed up everyone’s feelings when she said: “l think the day was really successful and it was gratifying to have such a good number of willing and industrious volunteers.
"I hope it will be possible to do something similar very soon”.
