In January, Dylan Davies asked readers to identify the cricketers in this old photograph.

Dylan recognised the man on the bottom row, centre, as his grandfather, Alfie Davies, but he wasn’t sure who the other players were, or when the picture was taken.

“I believe this photograph was taken in the 1960s but I’m not sure which team this was, or who any of the other people are,” he said.

Now Gwylon Phillips has been in touch to suggest a few names, as he explained.

“With some trepidation I enclose some names for the cricket team photograph,” he said.

“I think it’s the Cambrian News XI, Aberystwyth and District Midweek League.

“Back row, from left, I think are Brian Jones (son of Egryn?), Trevor Greenway, Stan Jones, Ryan (?), Mel Jones and Gwyn Williams (both UCW cricketers).

“Front row, from left, I think are Donald Evans, Alfie Davies, Dai Henry Jones.”
