CALLS are being made for the removal of a disused sewer pipe on Abersoch beach amidst safety fears.
A campaign group on social media has been launched to call for Dwr Cymru to remove the sewage pipe, which has not been in use for over 10 years.
Tim Twells, of Llanbedrog, who set up the campaign group, says the pipe could pose a danger to children who are swimming and paddling nearby.
He said: “I am calling for the removal of the sewage pipe because it is industrial waste left on our beach.

“Anyone who wishes to lend their weight to this campaign to have it removed is welcome to get in touch.”
South Caernarfonshire Yacht Club has also expressed their support for the campaign.
Cllr Wyn Williams, who represents Abersoch on Gwynedd Council, said talks are in place with Dwr Cymru to see how much it would cost to have the sewage pipe removed.
A spokesperson for Dwr Cymru said: “While we no longer use the outfall pipe at Abersoch as part of our waste water treatment process in the area, it is still subject to routine safety inspections by our engineers to ensure it meets current marine navigation and safety standards."
