Madam,
At the end of Antony Gedge’s article on Lidl’s plans to expand into the adjacent Iceland shop, there is a question about what is happening to Aldi’s Park Avenue plans.
Ceredigion County Council’s planning site indicates that their decision on this application has been called in by the Welsh Government due to concerns raised by Natural Resources Wales over potential flooding issues.
May I also comment on another Park Avenue development. On 16 September you had an article entitled 'Council praise for Land Rover and Hyundai dealership redevelopment' relating to Cllr Rhodri Evans welcoming this new investment in Aberystwyth.
It is a pity that two trees on council-owned land outside this garage have recently been cut down and the wooden railings that provided some form of continuity to this end of the avenue have been replaced in front of the garage by metal bollards.
None of the other commercial properties in this area have seen it necessary to remove these railings.
I hope that Shukers will be paying for replacement trees.
Yours etc, David Kirby, Cae Melyn, Aberystwyth.
