Machynlleth residents are being urged to report dog fouling in the town to help Powys County Council to take action.

Dog fouling in the town has become a major concern amongst residents, with Machynlleth town councillors calling for increased signage and bins and asking dog owners to clean up after their pets.

Now Powys council has appealed to residents to report any incidents or problems to the county council.

The council is asking residents to either email or phone the council to alert officers to problems which they are then able to clean up, investigate and even take enforcement action over.

A council spokesperson said: “We live in a beautiful county and we want to keep it that way, but dog fouling impacts on the way communities look and we’re determined to tackle the issue in Powys.

“The majority of dog owners are responsible but there is a minority who let their communities down by allowing their dogs to foul in public.

“By asking residents to report any dog fouling-related problems, they can help us tackle this issue in their community."

Anyone who wants to report an incident or raise a particular problem can email [email protected] or phone 0845 602 7035 or 01597 827465.
