TAKING part in the 26-mile MoonWalk London event is a huge challenge in itself, but for one Ceredigion woman this will be an even bigger challenge as she attempts to complete the event in her wheelchair.

At the age of 13, Rhiannon Hicks dislocated and damaged her spine in a horse riding accident and has been a wheelchair user ever since.

But not one to sit around and do nothing, Rhiannon wants to celebrate her 30th birthday with one of the hardest challenges she has ever faced.

“So this is a big year for me - I am turning 30 and I wasn’t going to enter the big 30 without doing a few things that scare me, one being the MoonWalk!" said Rhiannon, an executive support assistant and special projects officer with Tai Ceredigion.

"This is something that I have always wanted to do but never had the courage to do it but it’s game time now!

"This charity is something that is very close to my heart and I appreciate any support I get and whoever wants to join me get on and register!”

The MoonWalk London will celebrate its 21st event this year with a Wild West theme and sees people from all walks of life taking part in the walk during the night with a 26.2 full walk and a 13.1 Half Moon Walk around the city. Money raised will go towards research in breast cancer.
