A charity breakfast has raised around £1,700 for three worthy causes.
The FUW Big Breakfast hosted and organised by Rhiannon Wyn Jones at the Ty Newydd Café at Uwchmynydd last Wednesday was organised to raise money for three charities – one close to her heart and the other two chosen by the FUW.
Rhiannon from Aberdaron will donate her third of the money raised to the Cleft Lip and Palate Association to thank them for supporting her and her one-year-old daughter, Sioned.
Rhiannon wanted to help CLAPA to continue to provide “amazing” support for other families in the same situation.
Rhiannon’s daughter Sioned was born in August 2018 with a cleft lip and gum notch.
Rhiannon and her partner, Robert Jones, 37, found out about the cleft at a routine scan.
“Within an hour of the confirmed cleft lip we had Helen Thompson [from CLAPA] phone us up and organise to come and see us,” said Rhiannon.
“What they’ve done and the help they’ve given us is priceless.
The funds raised will go to three different causes, two decided by the FUW and one chosen by the host.
Rhiannon said: “I chose the charity closest to my heart.”
The rest of the money will be split between The DPJ Foundation, which provides mental health support to those in rural communities, and the Crown at the National Eisteddfod in Boduan next year.
The event raised around £1,700 by serving 120 breakfasts, selling raffle tickets and through donations. Over 25 companies donated different things to make the breakfast possible.
Rhiannon said: “I would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards our breakfast, and to all the helpers that we had on the day!”
The owners of Ty Newydd Café were very pleased to support their friend Rhainnon and the FUW Big Breakfast.
Business was very brisk and everybody who attended was only too pleased to show their support.
