AN ABERYSTWYTH man is planning to go to the Indian Ocean islands of Zanzibar for four months to help tackle unemployment.
Rhys Jones (pictured), a former Penglais School pupil who recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in geography, will lead an education project in March before starting a work placement in September.
Mr Jones is hoping to raise £800 to help fund the trip to the islands which are a semi- autonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa and famous for their spices.
He said his task will be to lead, inspire and tackle unemployment on a four-month project in Zanzibar.
“My accommodation will be that of a homestay — this way I will be wholly involved in the local culture and lifestyle, ensuring that I learn something while I am there.
“At the end of my cycle, another team will arrive and I will outline the aims, objectives and of course any avenues to avoid so that the project moves from positive to positive,” he said.
