A number of lorries and cars became stranded on the Talyllyn Pass this morning as heavy snow made the road impassable.

A number of drivers were left stuck on the A487 as heavy snow covered the road as police set up emergency diversions.

The road was eventually cleared by gritters, but further snow is expected throughout the week.

A number of schools have also closed their doors, including Ysgol y Moelwyn, Ysgol Pennal, Ysgol Corris and Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn.

Gwynedd Council says its fleet of gritters are currently out in areas of Meirionnydd affected by the snow, namely: A4212 Trawsfynydd to Bala; A496 Tanygrisiau to Blaenau; A470 Crimea; A487 Talyllyn.
