A road on the Llyn Peninsula has closed due to flooding.

Gwynedd Council said the A499 between Pwllheli and Llanbedrog had been affected by flooding.

"A weather warning is in place in Wales," a Gwynedd Council spokesperson said.

"Please plan ahead and take extra care if you’re travelling."

The weather warning was issued on Tuesday saying West Wales was set for a deluge of heavy rain towards the end of the week with up to 160mm possible in some areas.

A yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office for western parts of Wales between midnight on Thursday to the end of Friday with between 40-60mm of rain expected in most areas.

120mm of rain is likely on higher ground with as much as 160mm possible over Snowdonia.

The Met Office said: “Outbreaks of heavy rain are expected to become persistent for periods causing impacts during Thursday and Friday.

“Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.

“Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely.”
