Residents will face a series of road closures in Aberystwyth this weekend with the return of the AberCycleFest.

A series of events throughout the town between Friday and Sunday, including the signature Welsh Circuit Race Championships, will see large parts of the town cordoned off.

Closed from 8am on Friday until 6am on Sunday will be Sea View Place, St Michael’s Place, Upper Great Darkgate Street, Vulcan Street (between its junctions with Prospect Street and Sea View Place), St James’ Square, Laura Place (between its junctions with Upper Great Darkgate Street and New Street), Castle Street (between its junctions with Upper Great Darkgate Street and New Street) and Eastgate (between its junctions with Pier Street and Market Street).

Closed between 0.01am on Saturday and 6am on Sunday will be New Promenade, South Road (between its junctions with the New Promenade and Sea View Place), Laura Place (between its junctions with New Street and King Street), King Street, New Street, Castle Street (between its junction with New Street and King Street), Penmaesglas Road, and Custom House Street.

Closures will also be in place from 3am on Saturday to 6am on Sunday at Pier Street, Marine Terrace (between its junctions with Terrace Road and Pier Street), Bridge Street (between its junctions with Queen Street and Great Darkgate Street) and Great Darkgate Street (between its junctions with Bridge Street and Market Street).

Victoria Terrace (between Alexandra Hall and its junction with Police Station Road) will be closed between 0.01am and 8pm on Saturday, with no alternative route.

Cefn Llan hill between its junction with Primrose Hill and the entrance to the Science Park in Llanbadarn will be closed between 8am and 4pm on Saturday.

Organisers have warned that vehicles usually parked on those streets must be moved, with police officers authorised to remove vehicles from closed roads “which are deemed to be obstructing or affecting the cycling events taking place.”
