The Met Office has issued a flood warning for the A499 between Pwllheli and Penrhos.
The warning for River Rhyd Hir at Riverside Terrace said the A499 between Pwllheli and Penrhos is impassable.
“River levels are rising and conditions are expected to deteriorate,” the warning states.
Heavy rain overnight has affected road and rail travel elsewhere.
Dyfi Bridge has closed because of flooding, and trains on the Cambrian Line have also been affected.
Transport For Wales said: “Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury all lines are blocked. Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
Adrian Vickers was driving from Llwyngwril to Dolgellau last night, before travelling on to Dinas Mawddwy at around 8pm.
He said conditions were “really bad”.
“There were bits of trees and debris all over the roads,” he said.
“Lots of standing water made it difficult to see in the dark.
“It was really bad coming over the mountain at Dinas Mawddwy on A470 with wind and rain.”
