Madam,
May I take this opportunity to thank Eric Payne and many others for highlighting their support as I continue to campaign to improve road safety and safeguard the many young, elderly and disabled attempting to cross this most dangerous Trunk Road by Llwyn yr Eos School.
To have a pelican crossing placed at an appropriate location in the area of St Annes Church and the Neuadd Goffa Memorial Hall is now being considered by the Transport Secretary Ken Skates.
Also, may I reassure the many that have raised their concerns on the congested arrival and departure of vehicles and coaches at the entrance to the primary school that the safety concerns highlighted are in hand. I have held meetings on site and have asked the Traffic Department of Ceredigion County Council and the Welsh Government to investigate these serious road safety concerns in a school zone location. I have also highlighted these concerns to the Education Department of the county council. Brian Evans, headteacher of Llwyn yr Eos, is fully supportive of any future measures to safeguard, improve and prevent any accident to a young pupil or parent on foot.
I will work tirelessly to ensure that there is road safety these locations in Penparcau, working with the appropriate departments and the school to prevent what could be the most dangerous of outcomes if these issues are not given urgent and immediate attention.
Yours etc
Cllr Lorrae Jones-Southgate, Independent, Penparcau Ward, Ceredigion County Council.
