Roadworks that were due to disrupt the main road through Trefechan in early December have been postponed until early next year.
Scottish Power was due to carry out works on underground cables between 2 and 17 December on the A487 at Trefechan.
That work was scheduled to take place just weeks after the road had had traffic lights stationed there for several weeks while work was undertaken.
However, the latest round of work has been postponed with a Scottish Power spokesperson saying that was to avoid causing problems in the build up to Christmas.
No alternative date for the work has yet been set.
Local councillor, Endaf Edwards, welcomed the postponement, saying: “It is good news that this work will not be carried out in the run up to Christmas. However, over the last year there has been a lot of work on the road causing problems, for example disruption to waste collections. Residents of Trefechan have had to endure these problems for this time. While I accept that the work is necessary, I am concerned that the work could have been better co-ordinated and better organised. I have raised this issue with the Trunk Road Agency and asked them to avoid a repeat of this situation.
The Scottish Power spokesperson said: “The works have been postponed at the moment. They were for an upgrade for high voltage cables for nearby commercial units.
“We found there was solid rock underneath there and there were issues with other connections, so the work has been postponed now until early 2020 so we don’t cause any disruption in the build up to Christmas.”
