Llanidloes retailer Trudy Davies has been crowned Community Champion of the Year at a prestigious award ceremony in London.
The Community Champion of the Year award highlights the community values and hard work done by local retailers.
Not just a local business owner, Trudy, of Woosnam & Davies, has dedicated herself to supporting local charities, setting up events and getting involved in fundraising for a variety of causes.
Amongst the impressive list of charities Trudy has helped are St John Ambulance, Cancer Research and the Girl Guides, as well as a variety of local causes such as hospices, mother and baby groups and community centre projects.
Trudy’s work has not gone unnoticed, with a variety of her initiatives being taken on by the council including defibrillators around the town and improvements to the millennium gardens.
Trudy has been described as “an unwavering role model” whose hard work has “made the town a cleaner, more eco-friendly, family-friendly place to live in”.
Although Woosnam & Davies does not currently offer a home delivery service for its newspapers, Trudy always goes the extra mile if a customer is unwell and makes the effort to deliver them personally.
