CEREDIGION council has promised all rough sleepers in the county will have "access to shelter" as temperatures continue to plummet.
Snow, ice, high winds and bitterly cold temperatures falling as low as -6°C on the thermometer and -12°C with the wind chill factor, have left homeless people in the county particularly vulnerable.
As the weather begins to worsen late on Thursday afternoon for much of the county into Friday, where weather warnings remain in place, Ceredigion council has told the Cambrian News that it has a "plan in place to ensure anyone who is street homeless will have access to shelter over this period of extreme cold weather".
"All housing options and homelessness services are operating and both the council officers and those from the Wallich & Care Society are working to ensure there is limited disruption to the service," a spokesperson added.
Arriva Trains has announced that the last train out of Aberystwyth is 3.30pm today.
