A RESIDENT of Lampeter’s Hafan Deg residential home recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Rowena Evans (pictured), of Cellan, can look back on a remarkable life having been born in Llanfair in 1916 and moving to London where her family ran a milk round when she was small.

She met her future husband, Melfyn, in 1939 and became a wartime bride.

Mrs Evans later managed an exclusive guesthouse in Chelsea, before returning to Cellan some years ago.

There she enjoyed church activities, along with walking and gardening and some years ago wrote a book on her eventful life.
