Aberystwyth Rugby Club has donated money and food hampers to the Hub in Penparcau in the run-up to Christmas.

On Saturday, 19 December, a group of officers and players from Aberystwyth Rugby Club met at the Hub in Penparcau to present a cheque for £250 and to donate six food hampers given to the club via the Scarlets Community Foundation.

A spokesperson for the rugby club said: "The Hub does incredible charitable work throughout the year and its staff are especially busy over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"Although grants from various sources help finance their work there is still a significant need for donations of food and funds to meet a growing need for their charitable efforts. In particular, they need volunteers, particularly early in the new year.

"A visit to their premises, off the roundabout in Penparcau, illustrates the scale of their operation. Donations of food by the public and by local supermarkets disposing of unsold food at closing time each night, and of toys for young children, are packaged for distribution by volunteer staff and delivered by their drivers.

"The hard work of the Hub officers and staff of volunteers is not widely known in the town nor is the urgent need for donations and assistance.

"A visit to the Hub with offers to help in any way would be very gratefully accepted by the Penparcau Community Forum managers - Clare Jackson, Dylan Jones and Karen Roberts.”
