The Tabernacle Chapel in Llandysul is a Grade II listed building and on the Welsh Monuments Register.Situated in Bridge Street Llandysul.

It has been in private ownership since 2007 and planning was granted for two homes. It did not sell and the owner has done nothing.

It is in terrible condition and open to the weather and deterioration for the past ten years.

Under law either the owner or by statutory duty the council is obliged to secure and repair this building.

The council’s response to me was to send them £88 for a pre-planning application but it has refused to comment on its duty, and that of the owner, to repair and maintain the building.

Why should I spend money on this building which I do not own?

In the meantime an historic building is left open to the weather and dilapidation.

Ceredigion council is currently promoting a Well Being initiative which seems to be a tick box exercise.

If you ask them to step up and actually preserve and manage Welsh historic buildings, they have no response.
