Those of your readers that have not been bored to death by the long-running saga of the Aldi development on Park Avenue may be interested to know that the boarding screening off this site from prying eyes has recently been penetrated to permit the erection of a drilling rig. It seems likely that, rather than drilling for oil, further examination of the hydrology under the site is in progress.

It is now 10 years since permission was given to demolish the old Kwik Save supermarket and the garage formerly occupying this space and five years since these buildings were demolished.
