A SUPREME swimmer has made waves and money at a charity swimathon.
11-year-old Saskia Duncan, who is a member of Harlech Swimming Club, took on Cancer Research’s national Swimathon last Sunday (29 April).
Saskia raised hundreds of pounds for the cancer charity after completing her 5 kilometre swim in under two hours.
A keen swimmer, Saskia is already looking forward to her next event.
“I like swimming because it makes me feel free. I swim a minimum of five hours a week,” she said.
“I was aiming to finish the distance in less than two hours but my coach’s said that I could complete the challenge in one hour 45 minutes. I’m hoping to take part next year and will be aiming at beating my time.”
She was also happy to raise money for a worthy cause.
“I do think Cancer Research is a good cause as many people do suffer from cancer and unfortunately not all do have a cure,” Saskia added.
“Also a very good friend of mine and her mam are cancer survivors.”
