A housing association has come under fire from a Penparcau woman who claims damp in her home is so severe she might have to leave her home.

Wendy Green, who lives at Maes y Ffynnon, says damp has spread throughout her flat and Tai Ceredigion has failed to solve the problem over nine months.

She said two bedrooms have significant damp in them and other rooms are also developing problems.

She said the situation is so bad that one workman told her it was one of the worst cases of damp they had seen.

But social registered landlord Tai Ceredigion has insisted the issue is ‘condensation damp’ and that the concerns are being addressed.

Disputing the condensation claim, Wendy said: “It started three months after I moved in. The woman who had the flat before I did had just painted over it.

“I’m sleeping in the spare room now, but that’s getting just as bad. The whole thing is getting worse.

“They first said it was condensation, but when the surveyor came in and probed the wall they said it was damp.

“They said they were going to come and sort it out, but they haven’t done anything yet.

“It’s causing me health problems and making me ill.

“I’m going to have to move out for a while if something isn’t done as I can’t cope with it.”

But Tai Ceredigion insisted the issue was down to condensation as identified by a surveyor.

They said there had only been two issues raised with them which had been dealt with, although they admitted there was an issue with the installation of a fan which was being addressed.
