SEVERE gales have battered the Llyn Peninsula in the run-up to Christmas.
Winds gusting at over 60mph have ripped through the local area, leaving one perplexed resident with a trampoline balanced on top of his car on Tuesday morning.
The heavy winds and rain comes just days after Storm Deirdre felled trees across Dwyfor and Meirionnydd, with the Beaufort Scale tipping over to storm-force winds in Aberdaron (67mph).
Huw Williams, renowned for organising ultra marathons across north west Wales, was the Llannor resident who was shocked to see his trampoline on top of his car.
“I looked out of the window this morning and the trampoline, which had been tied down, had gone from the garden and was now on top of my car,” he told the Cambrian News, as he prepared to face the elements and go for a run.
“A previous trampoline flew over the house earlier in the year and is next to the cow shed.
“At least I now have a handy trampoline roof rack to carry Christmas gifts. Every cloud.”
A Met Office forecast for Monday night read: “It will be cloudy and windy with patchy rain, chiefly in the west.
“Rain turning heavier and more persistent later. Gales, perhaps severe in the west, although staying mild.”
