SHOCK and sadness has been expressed at the sudden death of a Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate just eight days before the Ceredigion County Council elections.
Aberporth businessman and father-of-one Neil Flower, who had been due to stand for election in Llandyfriog, died unexpectedly on Wednesday.
He and his wife, Stefani – who run Ffynonwen Guesthouse and Restaurant in Aberporth – both attended the launch of the Welsh Liberal Democrat manifesto at Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan earlier this month.
Mrs Flower is standing as a Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate in her home ward of Aberporth.
“Being told your husband of 30 years has died when you left him as normal that morning is hard to take in. But thankfully his death was instant, so he did not suffer,” Mrs Flower told the Cambrian News. “I want to thank everyone for the amazing support I have received in the last few days
“I am still standing for the Welsh Liberal Democrats in the county council election this Thursday because I feel passionate about the communities of Blaenporth, Blaenannerch, Aberporth and Parcllyn and Neil would want me to keep fighting for what we believed in and to keep filling my life with the things that were important to us.”
