Madam,
Many people do not want the Aberystwyth main post office to leave its building in Great Darkgate Street.
The Aberystwyth Post Office pays rent to use this building. Within W H Smith one imagines that the rent would be less but, if the Post Office abandons its present-day building, that building would become derelict, or much destruction of facilities would take place if its purpose was changed.
How about subsidising or paying in full (a rent-free building) its rent from local taxation (from rates for example?).
It seems that W H Smith would not have room for the full present-day facilities of the iconic building in the main street of Aberystwyth.
Fully re-nationalising the Post Office would enable Post Office branches to be subsidised from general taxation if need be.
Would moving the sorting depot back to Chalybeate Street reduce the running costs of the main Post Office?
Yours etc
