NEW Quay has held its very first silent disco in the newly re-opened Memorial Hall.

Event organisers Working 4 New Quay said the event, held on Saturday, 29 January, was a huge success.

It saw 150 revellers bring life back into New Quay’s Memorial Hall, which was recently re-opened by Ceredigion MP Ben Lake following its £250,000 refurbishment.

All attendees had to show proof of a negative lateral flow test, or a domestic Covid pass, and had their temperatures taken at the door by councillor Daniel Potter.

Three DJs were set up on stage playing three different genres of music - disco, rock, and drum ‘n bass - with each reveller having headphones in different colours for their choice of music.

Ian Richardson, head of the Working 4 New Quay Group, said: “On behalf of Working 4 New Quay we would like to thank everyone that attended our Silent Disco for their impeccable behaviour.

“There was a lot of eyes on the event and I think we proved a lot of pre-conceptions wrong, here’s to many more events going forward.”

The Seahorse Inn kindly built a bar for the event and donated the drinks for the event, allowing all profits from sales to go direct to the Memorial Hall and Working 4 New Quay Group.

The event raised £900 towards the ongoing work at the Memorial Hall.

The next Working 4 New Quay event will be ‘Boozy Bingo’ to be held on Saturday, 2 April 2022 at the New Quay Memorial Hall.

Tickets for the event are available on Eventbrite.co.uk.
