Madam,

Referring to the article “Trees ‘damaging houses’ set to be felled” (Cambrian News, 15 November),

I would like to highlight the options to deal with tree root suckers as in the arboricultural report by Duramen commissioned by Aberystwyth Town Council. On page 10, item 4.2, option 1: ‘Cut the new shoots as they occur’ (with a pair of secateurs).

Surely this is the most simple, environmentally kind and cost-effective option.

To be clear, the arboricultural report gave no evidence of damage to drains or property.

Yours etc,

Nicki Orton, Aberystwyth.
