With less than 10 months to go until the National Eisteddfod comes to Ceredigion, organisers are encouraging locals to join a unique project.

The National Eisteddfod will be held in Tregaron in August 2020 and to celebrate, local musicians and writers have developed a multi-media spoken word and musical project, inspired by astronomy and the local area.

And they are looking for locals to become part of the choir.

Lloergan is Fflur Dafydd, Griff Lynch and Lewys Wyn’s new and original project, combining the arts and science in a new and innovative way and drawing inspiration from Ceredigion.

The launch will be held at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberaeron at 7.30pm on Monday, 18 November.

The project is the culmination of a five-year partnership between the National Eisteddfod, the Urdd, Welsh universities and the Royal Astronomical Society, as part of the society’s bicentenary celebrations.

The magical abbey at Strata Florida (Ystrad Fflur), a site which whisks us back to the birth of our national identity, provides the backdrop for the project, and the performers will explore the area, observing the moon, the stars and the phenomenon of space during the show.

With the story firmly rooted in the Ceredigion countryside, Eisteddfod organisers are keen to attract people from across the county to be part of this exciting project.

The script and story were created by Fflur Dafydd with songs composed by Griff Lynch and Lewys Wyn. The musical arranger is Rhys Taylor and Hefin Jones is the project’s creative participation designer

There’s room for 250 in the choir, and people are encouraged to register online beforehand at https://eisteddfod.wales/eisteddfod-2020/get-involved/eisteddfod-choir or on the night in Aberaeron.

You can also contact the office on 0845 4090400 to register for the choir.
