TWO Aberystwyth sisters are to embark on a trek up Kilimanjaro in an effort to help raise £140,000 for a cancer charity.
Former Penglais School pupils Sarah-Lynn Thompson and Ruth Morris are to take on Africa’s highest mountain in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care.
People are being encouraged to help the sisters get to their mammoth group target by attending a pub quiz ‘with a twist’ at Aberystwyth Football Club at 7.30pm on Saturday, 17 September, or Llanidloes Rugby Club at 7.30pm on Friday, 16 September.
Mrs Thompson told the Cambrian News: “Tenovus Cancer Care is the charity that we are fund-raising for, to ensure the charity is able to continue to help, support, research and educate about the very many aspects of cancer and care that is needed.
“As a nurse, I deal with the effects of cancer first hand, while my sister Ruth works with the Tenovus ‘Sing With Us’ choirs in South Wales promoting Tenovus Cancer Care in a community-based role helping families affected by cancer."
Entry is £5 and tickets can be purchased on the door or in advance by calling Sarah-Lynn Thompson on 07717 785098.
