THE girlfriend and father of a Bontnewydd teenager who was involved in a horror crash earlier this year is completing a skydive to help raise money for the charity which saved his life.
On 4 March, Steffan Jones, 18, sustained serious head injuries after a horror collision between his car and a lorry on the A494, about four miles outside of Dolgellau.
Fortunately for Steffan, the Wales Air Ambulance was at the scene within minutes to provide life-saving medical care and fly him to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Had it not been for the swift actions of the helicopter medics there was a chance that Steffan, who is now training to become a welder, could have lost his life, a fact that his girlfriend Jess Owen is keen to recognise.
“Steff was involved in a really bad car accident earlier this year, and needed a helicopter due to the extent of his injuries,” a grateful Jess told the Cambrian News.
“Luckily he’s pretty much made a full recovery, which is more than anyone expected, especially when the incident occurred.
“His father Barry and I have decided to do a skydive to raise money for the Welsh Air Ambulance in recognition of what they do.
“After the amazing job they did when Steff had his accident, it was clear how hard their job is and how well they do it."
