AM Elin Jones has met with the new director of BT Wales, Alwen Williams, and the head of the Superfast broadband programme Ed Hunt, to discuss the slow progress of the rollout of fibre internet in the county.
Under the Superfast Cymru programme, funded by the Welsh Government and European Union, BT is contracted to deliver fibre broadband to 95 per cent of Wales by later this year, with more to follow by 2017.
However, the current figure for Ceredigion shows that just over 50 per cent of premises have access to the technology.
In the meeting Miss Jones raised the delays in connecting parts of Ceredigion, and pressed the need for accurate information for residents on if and when better broadband would become available for them.
Miss Jones said;“I am intensely disappointed at the slow pace of superfast roll-out for many communities in Ceredigion, and I raised the cases of Cwm-cou, Llanfihangel y Creuddyn, Llanwnnen and many other areas which expected to have been connected by now."
