Madam,
Your column - headlined Extra scanner funds must be found - is again disturbing news.
The soaring cost for installation surely begs more than one question.
I wonder (and I may not be the only one ) if this is yet another tactic towards the overall decision on the future of Bronglais Hospital.
The figure you give of a rise in costs of the planned scanner from £2.25m to nearly £5m is no mean jump and you state it is not at all clear if the extra cost will be met by the government.
I admit to knowing little about these matters, but it seems distinctly odd, now that March is all but upon us, that a strengthened floor is the issue for the placing of the said machine.
Moving on to the comments on Bronglais Hospital by Bernadine Rees, she says that for the present Bronglais is safe, but the other statements suggest there is a deal under discussion and the full picture is not yet known.
It behoves all of us to stay vigilant and aware.
Yours etc,
Jill Baxter, Abergynolwyn.
