DOLGELLAU residents can feel a little more secure after a gruelling fund-raiser collected enough money for a dozen members of the community to take a First Aid course.

On 27 January, a crowd of fighters took on the challenge of sparring non-stop for 24 hours.

Approximately £500 was raised from the gruesome slog which will be put towards a life-saving course which will be attended by 12 people.

The initiative, organised by David Hughes of Alpha Unit in Rhydymain, drew large crowds to the gym and the event went “really well” according to the organiser.

“I just want to thank everyone for the support and effort they put in over the weekend,” he said.

“Without the help I received none of this could have happened.

“We will be letting people know when the first aid course is to be held and hopefully be able to get as many people on it as possible.

“Keep an eye on the ‘ALPHA UNIT Training’ Facebook page for more information.”
