DIRECTOR Guy Ritchie’s eagerly anticipated new movie, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, hits cinema screens next month and it is hoped will bring the splendour of Snowdonia to a wider audience.

Parts of the film, a modern take on the Arthurian legend, were shot in Nant Gwynant, near Beddgelert; Vivian Quarry, near Llanberis; and Capel Curig in Conwy during April and May 2015.

The film stars Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam in the title role and Jude Law as evil king and Arthur’s uncle, Vortigern.

With Snowdonia expected to be seen by a global audience, Visit Britain has launched a new tourism campaign to tie in with the movie release to show why Britain and particularly Snowdonia is a legendary tourist destination.

The six-week ‘Where Stories Become Legends’ digital campaign, a non-commercial partnership between Visit Britain and Warner Bros Pictures, inspires people to book a King Arthur-themed holiday to Britain using #OMGBLegends (Oh My Great Britain ‘Home of Legendary Moments’).

The campaign features an exclusive behind-the-scenes video of writer/director/producer Ritchie, writer/producer Lionel Wigram, and Hunnam and Law on location in Snowdonia talking about the epic British landscapes used in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the emotions they inspire.
