THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for a brain tumour charity at a star-studded evening in Meirionnydd.
The seventh annual Stars in their Eyes meets The X Factor show, held at the Buffs Club Barmouth last Saturday evening, raised a whopping £2,100 for the Brain Tumour Charity.
The event has now raised almost £15,000 since its inaugural show in 2011.
The evening was held in memory of Jamie ‘Jolly’ Campbell, with Tyrone Carr as Drake winning first place on the night.
Organiser Craig Papirnyk said: “We had some unbelievable acts this year with Paul Lewis as Simon Cowell; Warren Brown as Bruno Mars; Lewis Lodder as Axl Rose; Dave Smith as James Arthur; Dan Owen, Mark Holloway, Stuart Pilling, Gareth Griffith and Bobby Griffith as the Spice Girls; Damian Williams as The Notorious B.I.G.; George Fisher as Chris Brown; Sion Griffith as Mumford & Sons; James Harris as Elvis; and the 2017 winner, Tyrone Carr as Drake.
“Thanks to all of the local businesses that provided raffle tickets which raised £400 on the night, and also the RAOB and Stacey Mulholland for once again facilitating the event.
“Most importantly we would like to thank all those who bought tickets and attended. It was a great night in memory of ‘Jolly’.”
Steffan Owen of Barmouth received the cheque on behalf of the Brain Tumour Charity.
Steffan, who has a brain tumour himself, has raised thousands of pounds for charity in recent years, with his last endeavour seeing him run for 50 miles from dawn until dusk around Coed y Brenin in April, raising over £3,000.
