A keen stargazer from Ffosyffin has captured a spectacular astral event in the night sky above his home.
David Barber, along with his 10-year-old daughter, Lexie Butler, set up a time lapse camera to cover the night sky above their home in Ffosyffin on Tuesday evening to capture the Lyrid meteor shower.
The footage, which you can watch below, was captured between 8.30pm and 1.30am as the meteor shower flashed in the clear sky above.
David said: “The footage was filmed next to my house with my daughter,Lexie, who is 10-years-old. It was the first time she had seen a shooting star.”
The Lyrid meteor shower is thought to be the oldest known meteor, with records of this shower going back for some 2,700 years.
The ancient Chinese are said to have observed the Lyrid meteors falling like rain in the year 687 BC.
The display takes place every year between 16 and 25 April, and is expected to still be active tonight.
