Madam,

In her letter, Sue Slocombe says: “As a regular bus user, I am constantly amazed when arriving in Aberaeron from Llanon that the bus travelling south to either Lampeter/Carmarthen/Cardiff or Cardigan/Haverfordwest/Fishguard leaves the bus stop as ours is arriving! All I can ask is why?”

Have I missed something obvious here? If she is travelling from Llanon to Aberaeron, she has done so on a bus that might be a T1 at seven minutes past the hour, which will carry on from Aberaeron to Carmarthen at 22 minutes past the hour. Or she’s caught a T5 at 36 minutes past the hour, which will go forward to Cardigan, etc, at 10 minutes to the hour.

There’s no need to change buses at all if going beyond Aberaeron. The buses she is seeing leaving Alban Square as hers is arriving from Llanon have come from Haverfordwest (leaving for Aberystwyth at 18 minutes past the hour), or Carmarthen (leaving for Aberystwyth at 47 minutes past the hour); they are going back to Llanon.

As I say, I may have missed something obvious here, in which case, my apologies. Like Sue, I am a regular bus user, and want to do all we can to spread the message that there are a few quite usable buses still around. And this is especially for tourists, who might be put off by the heading 'Stupidity over buses does tourism no good'.

Yours etc,
