Storm Brendan is set to sweep across west Wales tomorrow (Monday) with gusts of 80mph possible in exposed coastal areas.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind from 10am tomorrow.

The warning is in force throughout Monday and Tuesday, with winds expected to move further south as the week progresses.

A spokesperson for the Met Office says: "An area of very strong winds will move eastwards across the UK through Monday, clearing eastwards overnight (on Monday).

"The strongest winds are expected around exposed coasts and hills.

"Here gusts of 60-70 mph are likely, with a few sites perhaps seeing gusts to 80 mph - especially around Irish Sea coasts and around the west coast of Scotland where the strongest winds are most likely.

"Gusts will be lower inland with 45-55 mph likely. A narrow band of squally heavy rain moving east, accompanying the strongest winds, may be an additional hazard."

The Met Office is also warning of large waves along the west coast of Wales and warning of potential power cuts.

The severe conditions could cause travel disruption with motorists being advised to take extra care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges or high open roads.
