All trains along the Cambrian railway line have been cancelled as a result of flooding and a landslide caused by Storm Christoph.

Trains running between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury, and Machynlleth and Pwllheli were cancelled from 2pm onwards as a result of heavy downpours across Mid and North Wales.

The rain has also caused a landslip which has blocked the line between Barmouth and Harlech.

A spokesperson for Transport for Wales said: "The Cambrian line has been suspended since 2pm.

“Flooding on local roads has made it impossible for teams to access sites requiring attendance."

Local bus company Lloyds Coaches has also been forced to suspend some services due to the weather.

A weather warning is in place for continuous rain until tomorrow afternoon and forecasters have issued a new yellow warning for ice across a large stretch of Mid and North Wales this afternoon.

The warning runs from 1am until 10am tomorrow with the Met Office warning: “Following clearance of heavy rain, and in places snow, ice may form quite rapidly on some surfaces.” This is likely to cause difficult driving conditions for road users.
