A TRUST fund in Machynlleth has awarded money to a number of local students.
The Machynlleth Tabernacle Trust Educational Foundation received a number of applications for support.
Awards have been made to four local students.
They are: Rhian Angharad Griffiths from Cwmllinau, who is planning to study mathematics and Welsh at Aberystwyth University.
Rhian has been a regular performer on the piano at the Tabernacle, supporting fundraising events, and she intends to continue to use her musical talents whilst at university.
Beca Wyn Jones from Derwenlas, who has a place at Aberystwyth University to study geography and Welsh. She has studied the piano with Chris Dendy for 10 years and was a regular performer at most of Chris’ fundraising events in the Tabernacle.
She has also studied the clarinet with Sally Marshall and played in the school orchestra and at the Tabernacle.
Osian Dance from Machynlleth, who is already a first-year undergraduate on the BMus course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
In September 2015 he gave a clarinet recital in the Tabernacle and is a member of several youth orchestras in Wales.
