Madam,
On Thursday, 4 October, I attended a concert organised by the Aberystwyth Music Club in Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
The Kokoschka Trio were playing Schubert, Brahms and Shostakovich. I went along because I like all three composers.
I have attended quite a few concerts at the arts centre over the years I have lived here, mostly, but not only, those given by the National Orchestra of Wales.
Over the years I’ve attended concerts in prestigious halls in Europe and elsewhere. I’ve never heard Shostakovich played like last night.
The musicians were just out of this world, sublime.
I was with an American friend who was visiting from Berlin where she lives. She’s a keen musician herself and frequently attends concerts and, like me, she wanted to thank the trio and the organisers for giving us such a wonderful experience.
We are so fortunate to have these occasions in Aberystwyth.
A resounding and warm bravo to the trio and the organisers for this wonderful experience.
Yours etc,
Marie-Hélène Thomas, Aberystwyth.
