Madam,

The dramatic floods shown on television in Llangefni indicate the threats we are under as global warming intensifies.

In an article on 29 June you outlined the situation with regard to the entire Llanbedr lagoon and the old 5th-century church so popular in the summer. These will soon be destroyed and Llanbedr will become just another Welsh estuary unless we take real, swift action. And the government plan is “strategic withdrawal”, ie let it all happen and let the surf break on Llanbedr High Street. This surrender is something we totally oppose and have circularised people asking for support to research alternatives.

If your readers wish to support our save the lagoon campaign please email or write to the Secretary of the LDPG - Llandanwg Dune Protection Group, Llanfair, or to me as secretary of the save Llanbedr campaign.

We do support this very dramatic and demanding project and we hope you will too.

Yours etc,

Graham Tottle, Thrumble Coombe, 2 Maes Artro, Llanbedr LL45 2PZ.
