AROUND 100 swimmers braved a stiff, cold, north-easterly wind to join in the annual New Year’s Day charity swim on New Quay beach.

A collection was taken with £600 raised for the local Cancer Research fund.

The organisers would like to thank the local RNLI crew for their presence and ensuring that everyone came out of the water safely.

Further south, a keen group of swimmers took to the water at Poppit Sands, while Marc Treanor and his team created a beautiful sand circle at Mwnt Beach.
