A DAUNTLESS volunteer from Blaenau Ffestiniog will travel to one of the world’s harshest environments to help improve opportunities for the area’s youngsters.

Tara Hall, 23, will be in charge of up to 40 participants in a programme to educate and empower young people in remote Nepal through charity Restless Development, an organisation with links to the International Citizen Service.

The project, which will last approximately eight months, will see Tara cohabit with a Nepalese youngster, and live with their family with little or no modern conveniences and help orchestrate community projects to benefit local residents.

The former English literature student is excited, but cautious about working in such a challenging environment.

“My feelings are a mixed bag. I’m very excited. Nepal is a country I am intrigued by and challenging myself has always been something that makes me happy,” Tara told the Cambrian News.

“I am apprehensive too. I have an idea of what to expect, but you can never truly understand what it is like to live in another country until you are there."
