Madam,

I read on your Facebook page the letter from the gentleman complaining about taxi drivers keeping their engines running on the rank (Sickening to see engines running).

I think Dennis needs to read up on workplace temperature regulations. The acceptable temperature range for a place of work is around 16-24°C. It is therefore reasonable for the taxi drivers to run their air conditioning to stay within this range.

I would be interested to know what the environmental impact of the place of work of the writer is.

I think his wanting to save the planet is commendable, but his fight is misplaced. Take on the large shops and supermarkets to get them to install renewable energy sources within their grounds rather than taking on the taxi drivers who work all hours and just want to be comfortable.

Nobody wants to get in a taxi that’s bitterly cold on a December morning or stifling on a hot July afternoon to find the driver soaking wet and stinking of sweat.

Yours etc,

Alison Little, Llwyngwril.
