BLAENAU Ffestiniog’s very own West End star recently treated students from his home town to one of his performances in London.

Callum Evans, 19, is currently performing in Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre in Leicester Square and kindly invited students from his former secondary school to come down and watch a performance.

The talented teenager stars as an ensemble member, helping with backing vocals, group dancing and gymnastics throughout the show.

The students were also treated to a singing and dancing workshop during their visit.

The Miss Saigon star said: “It was great to be able to invite some of the students from Ysgol y Moelwyn to watch my evening show.

“There were about 40 – 50 children who came down and it was such an experience for them, it was very different to what they were expecting as most musicals are very upbeat and high energy but they were happy to see a well moving and deep storyline.

“They clapped and cheered as I walked out after the show to greet them which was lovely and showed how supportive they were of me.

“I also joined their singing and dancing workshop that involved Miss Saigon material and before I left I did a quick question and answer session with them and told them a synopsis of my journey on how I achieved and got where I am today.

“It was lovely to hear them all listen and focus on what I had to say.

“My message is clear to youngsters back home – just do what you’re passionate about, regardless to what other people’s opinions are because you can achieve whatever you want if you put the work in.”
