Over recent years jogging bottoms have become an extremely popular form of casual wear. Comfortable, easy to wear, elasticated waist, in fact the only obvious drawback, if drawback it be, is sometimes the lack of pockets.

When going to the shops, this dearth of on-board storage often leads to a person carrying their purse or wallet. It has also led to me getting into the habit of placing the wallet on the car roof while unlocking the door. Such was the case recently when I drove off from Machynlleth Spar with my bill-fold still on the roof.It travelled as far as the Glynd?r pub before saying goodbye; not where I would have looked for it.

After a fruitless search, I eventually fetched up at the police station to report it missing, whereupon the officer at the desk immediately produced it.

Thanks to a local decorator handing it in, I lost nothing. It reminded me of a domino game I used to play called Honest John.

Thank goodness he was.
