Madam,

I refer to your article (‘Flooding concerns cause delay to Aldi store plan’). Again, after Aldi gained planning consent from Ceredigion County Council for the store to be built, suddenly the Welsh Government has expressed concerns about flooding.

I really cannot understand this being brought up again, as this concern was raised when Tesco was planned and when the one and two-bedroom flats were planned at Aberystwyth Football Club.

So why, I wonder, this has come up again. The area from the police station to where Arriva bus depot used to be looks an absolute mess and can’t impress visitors nor prospective investors to Aberystwyth. This Aldi building would beautify and enhance this part of Park Avenue.

Furthermore I have lived in Aberystwyth for 70 years and have never seen this area flooded, so what is the true reason for delay?
