The Cambrian News has teamed up with Tafarn y Maes, a cosy country dining pub serving quality and fresh food in a relaxed and modern setting, to offer one lucky winner a three-course evening meal for two with a bottle of house wine, worth £75.
Tafarn y Maes is located five miles east of Aberystwyth in the village of Capel Bangor.
Formerly the Maes Bangor Arms, it dates back to 1841. After being lovingly renovated, there is a modern bar, cosy restaurant with open fire, plenty of parking and most importantly a team that is dedicated - so they think they’ve just about got it all!
Chef Ludo and his team develop a new menu every quarter using seasonal and Welsh produce. The menu is a mixture of his specially crafted dishes such as Pan-fried Supreme of chicken, served with fondant potatoes, rosemary and garlic petit legumes served with wholegrain mustard jus; and old favourites you would expect such as home-made pie and hand-cut chips.
As well as the A la Carte menu - which is available from Tuesday evening to Saturday evening - pie night, delicious shortcrust pastry pie served with hand-cut chips and a pint for £9.95 is available on a Tuesday night and a burger night on Wednesday, where you can choose from beef, veggie or chicken burgers, again served fully loaded and with hand-cut chips and a pint for £9.95.
Chef Ludo puts his stamp on a traditional roast dinner served on a Sunday. The menu is prepared on a weekly basis and offers a choice of roasts, fresh fish, vegetarian and vegan options. Three courses are £19.50, two courses £15.50 and one course £10.95.
Parties and special occasions can be catered for, including birthday afternoon teas and christenings and, if you’re looking for something bespoke, special set price menus can be created.
