ABERYSTWYTH is the “happiest”, “most polite”, “most friendly, and “most welcoming” place in the UK, a survey has revealed.

Ceredigion’s MP and AM have said the results of the survey, conducted by Provident to find Britain’s happiest places, were “no surprise” and were good news for both residents and the town’s tourism.

Ceredigion AM Elin Jones said: “It’s no surprise to me to find Aberystwyth ranks consistently high in terms of friendly and welcoming places to live and to visit."

Ceredigion MP Mark Williams said: “This comes as no surprise to those of us who live in Ceredigion and it is good to see the county topping most of the criteria in this survey."

Provident’s nationwide campaign was aimed at revealing which areas of the UK have the highest sense of community spirit.

A nationwide survey was sent to 2843 respondents equally spread across the UK.
